Reading time at the zoo… I don’t tend to feature my kid’s faces in the blogs, but as they are not directly looking at the camera, and one of them is partially obscured by a giant Lego book….
I think the image sums up a general feeling of what it’s like in lockdown for quite a few kids in the UK at the moment. The youngest copies his brother a LOT (which is not always good, believe me!) and I watched as he spotted him on the sofa and trundled off to get a book to read with him. This was the comfiest perch apparently, and amazingly his big brother just accepted it and carried on reading. They sat and read like that for at least twenty minutes, probably the LONGEST stretch of peace I have had (apart from when I am asleep!) these past six weeks. Anyway, hope everyone is coping. I am no expert or anything, but remember these are not normal times, don’t sweat the small stuff if you don’t feel like you are doing “enough homeschooling”, we are all just doing our best. Anyway, you never know, let them get on with it sometimes and they might just take themselves off and teach themselves to read! :D
