Talk to me about skiing and (as I have said many times<\/a>) I will tell you I am not the biggest skiing fan in the World. \u00a0I take little pleasure from hurtling down vertiginous mountainsides on glorified planks of wood, not helped by the fact that I am definitely one of the world’s clumsiest people, and also have a bit of a secret fear of heights (especially when runs are super steep and seem to veer off to a sheer drop on one side)…\u00a0Having said that, I absolutely love everything else that goes with skiing\u00a0<\/span>– being up in the mountains, the snow, crisp fresh air, alpine scenery, the apres ski (although in our case it’s much much tamer nowadays), plus I really enjoy seeing how much the rest of my family love hurtling down mountainsides<\/a> on planks of wood – as long as they don’t always expect me to do it with them (Mr R is now over the moon that both small people can more than keep up with him – two down, one to go!), and obviously living here, we have quite a lot of mountains to hurtle down directly on our doorstep. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last Ski Week (it’s actually called that here) we ventured further afield to gorgeous Swiss Andermatt<\/a>, but this year we chose to go a little closer to home to Kitzbuhel. \u00a0Even if you aren’t\/weren’t addicted to Ski Sunday you should have heard of Kitzbuhel in Austria. \u00a0It’s famous for quite a few crazy races, is covered with gorgeous “Heidi houses”, has masses of runs for all abilities, and has plenty of resorts dotted about the place. \u00a0 We lucked in when we found a little spot slightly above Mittersill, a few kilometres outside of colourful Kitzbuhel itself…<\/p>\n

So, how do you make the most of a skiing holiday if you are not planning on doing much of that exact thing? \u00a0 Don’t let your other half book for a start! \u00a0 Mr R would be happy sleeping in a shed halfway up a mountain if it meant decent skiing, a preferable option perhaps given the state of some of the places he has booked in the past… \u00a0If I am going to spend sufficient time in the mountains, I want somewhere to stay that’s nice to look at AND truly relaxing, as I will be the one spending the most time in it, and I can safely say that <\/span>Apartment Top 20<\/a> ticked all boxes. \u00a0 It’s spacious, beautifully furnished, above a Gastof so you don’t even have to cook (although the Kitchen is lovely), plus the cable car is a stones throw from the door – great if you are planning on doing a lot of trips to the top to meet up for lunch, and best of all it’s lovely and quiet…<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr R loves skiing so he doesn’t care where he stays. If you could see some of the places he has made me stay in the past you would laugh. I on the other hand don’t love the actual skiing part so much and do care where we stay. These past 2 years I have booked! ;) #kitzbuhel #panoramachalets #familytravel<\/a><\/p>\n
