It’s taken what seems like weeks to sit down and compose a post, mostly because I think this move has been so very different from our last three…<\/p>\n

There’s so much more to do than when you first arrive at your rented foreign Expat property.\u00a0 That whole process typically goes something like this: Wait for lorry to arrive, unpack alongside un-packers to make sure nothing is broken (and that you can find everything once they have gone!).\u00a0 Go food shopping, eat, fall asleep, wake up wondering where on earth you are…<\/p>\n

Having forgotten what it was like to move into a house that we actually own, this<\/em> move has gone a little something like this: unpack frantically (no unpackers this time sadly!) chucking empty boxes out of the front door for the removal men to take with them.\u00a0 Swear a lot about the previous owner’s obsession with the colour blue, make mental lists of colours that should help erase some of the 90’s vibe currently swirling around the place. Keep having mild head rushes at the thought that you actually own another property after such a long time (plus it’s somewhere you are familiar with AND there are no new foreign languages to struggle with!). Go food shopping, eat, fall asleep, wake up wondering where on earth you are – that bit doesn’t change!\u00a0 \u00a0Anyway, we are slowly getting there…<\/p>\n

Having taken the odd break from unpacking and the general redesign of the place (one room at least is no longer blue!), I am taking another break from all things house today, to host Cultured Kids (alongside\u00a0ZenBabyTravel<\/a>), albeit in a chunk of time that has lacked much culture for me and my offspring (that will hopefully all change in the near future!)…<\/p>\n

I have managed a wander or two through our new city though (parts seem a lot more countryside than anything else!) meandering through ancient streets and water meadows.\u00a0 The pictures included in this post will have to make up for the lack of culture elsewhere at present… Winchester is both beautiful AND cultural thankfully!<\/p>\n

If (unlike me!) you have had any kind of cultural experience with your children recently, whether it be museum, theatre, music, film, dance, art (I could probably manage a fabulous cardboard box sculpture right now!), galleries, historic homes, exhibitions, travel, this<\/strong> is the place for you to add your posts and for us to share them!<\/p>\n

The favourite posts of CulturedKids #26 hosts were Map & Family with their brilliant Rome with Teenagers<\/a> post, and Museum Mum with Asterix at the Jewish Museum<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0Thanks to all for joining in!<\/p>\n

By the way, this is the last CulturedKids of the Summer, we are all taking a bit of a summer break, but will be back in September!<\/p>\n
