So here it is, the final glimpse of my trip to Sarajevo. Please note, I didn’t take my “big camera” with me on this occasion, preferring instead to try to blend in.\u00a0 What I didn’t anticipate was that cameras appear to be the status symbol of choice here, and everyone but everyone has one slung around their neck!<\/p>\n

A few little Sarajevo tips before the Photo Essay commences!… :<\/p>\n

Where to stay<\/strong>:\u00a0 We stayed at the very pleasant Hotel Michele<\/a>, Hotel Europa<\/a> also looks really nice!<\/p>\n

What to See<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0 As much of this wonderful city as you possibly can.\u00a0\u00a0 See my previous posts,<\/a> and make sure you talk to Insider Guides<\/a> when you get there;<\/p>\n

What to avoid<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Going into religious buildings without the correct attire obviously.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Too much baklava, you will get a tummy ache.<\/p>\n

What not<\/span> to worry about<\/strong>: Safety.\u00a0 Not at any time did I feel unsafe or intimidated, even wandering lonely streets at ungodly hours. \u00a0\u00a0 Do keep personal belongings close in crowded areas, but this is no different to any city really.<\/p>\n

What to bring<\/strong> : Plenty of change!\u00a0 Honestly, at times it seems like there really is no change to be had here, and if you pay in a note larger than 200 BAM (around 10 Euros) you will send people scurrying from door to door to find some, leaving you feeling very guilty!<\/p>\n

What to buy<\/strong>: Lokum<\/a>, spices, beautiful scarves, metal ware (including coffee pots!)!<\/p>\n

What to eat<\/strong>: Burek, cevapi, baklava, lokum, the lovely tea, strong coffee, and an amazing yoghurt drink topped with cinnamon (the name of which escapes me)!<\/p>\n

What to do next<\/strong>: Book your flights! \u00a0 Enjoy!<\/p>\n
