Catching up with best friends…\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Apologies for the lack of frequent posts of late, things have been a little quiet on the blog front admittedly, but not without good reason.<\/p>\n

A ten-day trip home full of birthdays, a wedding, and\u00a0celebrating\u00a0the surprise and very welcome engagement of my baby sister, left little time for me to even think about opening my PC, let alone publishing any half-written posts I had scheduled (something that had me cursing the fact that I had to lug it around everywhere – it took up valuable tea space!).<\/p>\n

Add to that the fact our time was split in two different locations, so whilst one set of days were filled with city appreciation, gorging on food stuffs in short supply here (fish and chips, decent Korean, English pub food!) rowing on the Thames (not for long, the tide was against us!), cricket admiration (of the willow bat variety, not the jumping) the other set was filled with countless country walks, family history lessons (on behalf of my wonderful Grandmother) and a spot of minnow fishing<\/a> – of course!<\/p>\n

We also managed to re-acquaint ourselves with much-loved spots, and a few much-loved persons too (although not enough for my liking, there really never is enough time!).<\/p>\n

The introduction or reintroduction of countless English things to my offspring is something we all look forward to when we go home, and I loved taking the Seven Year Old to my most favourite statue in York Gardens, Twickenham. \u00a0I used to bring them here when they were tiny babies. \u00a0 Even he appreciated how beautiful it was, before asking if he could do a spot of minnow fishing in its waters.<\/p>\n

Other discoveries included scampi \u00a0– they wanted to know if it was an animal (hardly surprising given that their mother thought a haggis was some kind of creature at a similar age), and on me reading out a menu to them wanted to know what on earth a “hamandegg” was!<\/p>\n

My favourite of the lot though was perhaps on the day we went rowing. \u00a0The Seven Year old pointed out a bird bobbing along on the river and enquired as to whether it was a duck. \u00a0 I know we are quite landlocked where we are presently, but it was actually a seagull.<\/p>\n

It will never get easier when it comes to leaving day, but all in all the \u00a0usual mission to patch up those important soul plasters<\/a> was just about completed.<\/p>\n

And so now we are back, almost rejuvenated, and raring to go. \u00a0 The new school year awaits, and with that comes a full-time job for me! \u00a0So whilst I get back into the swing of my first full-time position in years, I have plenty of scheduled posts that I promise to find time to complete and publish, plus a beautiful guest post from a good friend of mine that I will be sharing with you too.<\/p>\n
