Staying up the road in Garmisch had the added advantage that we were able to pop to our old city for a day…
Whilst the rest of my gang happily spent the day in their old haunt (actually much changed, much rearranged, slightly smaller?) Deutsches Museum, I was able to have a meander around Munich, treading all too familiar paths with a wander into town from the Gasteig to meet a good friend at Dallmyr for breakfast (a traditional weisswurst fruhstuck obviously!).
After we said goodbye, I continued into town where I spent the entire time trying to constantly remind my brain that I didn’t need to be at school for a particular time for pick up, or indeed pick up anything for tea. I wasn’t due at any parent’s evening, or to meet other friends for drinks that evening (we had to get back to GaPa), and I didn’t need to plan my old Munich Life for the following day…
We may no longer live there, but Munich will always have a (probably pretzel shaped) chunk of my heart… I am also very glad we managed to time our visit for Fasching and the all important Fasching Krapfen (donuts!). We had to find time for a Spaghetti Eis too (obviously!)…
