Trams, and tramlines!… Something of a novelty for us! Much more interesting than being underground, and much more useful for spotting sights and getting to know the city – plus they are much more exciting than a bus for the Small people! And me? I just like the way the lines dissect the sky…

I need to try and take the trams more often, I’m usually on the s-bahn or u-bahn and am missing out on the views.
bavaria says
Thanks Laurel :) Something nicer than buses about them as well isn’t there?

Reminds me of getting in some scrapes on trams in Munich as a teenager. Love your perspective!

Intriguing!! Thanks Penny x

i love old, trundling trams. kolkata has many tram lines running through it, including the one that took me, very slowly, to school every day. i’m looking forward to taking my daughter on a long tram ride when we visit india this year.

And I can’t wait to see your pictures and hear all about your trip! Emma xx

Great pics. Going to the Isle of Man in a few weeks – understand they have grams too.
bavaria says
Thanks Erica, hope you have fun! :)

Lovely photos. Public transport seems so much better in other countries. That said I live near our Irish DART (electric trains) service and it is great.
xx Jazzy
bavaria says
Thanks Jazzy… The DART trains sound great! :)

the juxtaposition is beautiful – sky, architecture and tramlines.
remind me of the wind turbines against the rugged hills – strangely beautiful

Thank you Sheonad, there’s just something nice about them! Love wind-turbines too, we used to try and count the hundreds of them that are in the sea close to the Øresund bridge when we were going to Sweden…

I thought the wires spoilt the views of the buildings, I like pedestrianised really, bring trams so far in then walking and electric small buses perhaps…ooh, oooo…and moving pavements for the old and kiddies, and and….I want to live in the city of the future (or an airport lol) but other than that trams are great….been to critch?
bavaria says
If the whole of the sky was covered with them, then I am not sure I would be as much of a fan, but luckily it’s only parts! Pedestrianised, compact, electric buses… it doesn’t have moving pavements (apart from in the airport) but have you been to Copenhagen?!? :) No, I haven’t been to Crich, looks good though! Emma :) xx PS. I googled Critch and it came up with something that made me laugh, definitely no trams involved! ;)
kelloggsville says
ahhhh – yes, I just did that too – whoops! sorry!
bavaria says
Don’t worry, I found it highly amusing! :)
Midlife Singlemum says
Trams always make me think of a slightly old fashioned and quaint Europe – one that I would have liked to visit.
bavaria says
Me too! There are still parts that are old fashioned and quaint, you just need to look for them :)
Windmilltales says
Trams are a great way of getting round. There are some here too in the bigger cities
bavaria says
Great aren’t they? Sure the novelty will wear off soon enough, but for now it’s all that certain people want to go on when we are in town!
