defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a very decent festive cocktail (consisting of\u00a0gin, spiced apple and celebratory fizz) at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schumanns.de\/en\/index.html\">Schumanns<\/a> (which reminds me so much of my <a href=\"http:\/\/rby.dk\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">favourite place\u00a0<\/a>in Copenhagen in terms of relaxed but stylish surroundings, friendly staff and superior mixology), we made our way through Schwabing&#8217;s back streets to <a href=\"http:\/\/restaurant-n15.com\/\">Restaurant\u00a0N \u00b0 15<\/a>. \u00a0 \u00a0 Not to be confused with any restaurant from Jamie Oliver&#8217;s empire, this place is very much a Munich affair. \u00a0 \u00a0You won&#8217;t find much Bavarian cuisine on the menu however, it&#8217;s mostly French, and of the decent variety.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have Rachel from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsinmunich.com\/\">Arts in Munich<\/a> to thank for the idea (and perhaps Rachel from Arts in Munich to thank for thoughts of an impending diet too and we don&#8217;t even have Christmas out the way\u00a0yet!). \u00a0 Hers is usually my go to site when looking for Munchen food inspiration, so I knew we wouldn&#8217;t go far wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ll start with the environment &#8211; which is a little eccentric to say the least, \u00a0with eclectic art and furnishings. \u00a0I am not usually fussy in that regard, as long as a place is clean, the lighting&#8217;s not overly bright (I hate that) and you aren&#8217;t close enough to hear the breathing of those on the next table (if you want to share, you can go to a bier hall here) I am usually happy. \u00a0 I think this particular building must have been a residence in a previous life, and that, together with the warm welcome just added to the impression that we were having dinner at a favourite aunt and uncles house. \u00a0Albeit a favourite aunt and uncle who can cook so well that I would have invited myself to live with them had this been real life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given that you will undoubtedly encounter some rich and strong flavours during your meal here, you can&#8217;t go far wrong with a wine pairing menu, which can also make sense money wise. \u00a0 \u00a0 Having said that, considering that the place has a Michelin star, I think it&#8217;s all incredibly good value &#8211; the lunch menu is just bargainous!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our meal began with some of the best French bread I have ever eaten, accompanied by gorgeously crisp fresh radishes and lightly boiled quails eggs that looked too pretty to be smashed apart and eaten (together they reminded me of our Noma experience a couple of years ago, just without the pretend mud and plant pot!)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesojournseries.com\/bavaria\/no-15-restaurant\/1-img_8812\/\" justify;\">Following dishes consisted of smoked fish with fresh sorrel and a raspberry reduction, the most delicious (and maybe my favourite dish of the lot) flavoursome lightly poached egg in a truffle foam, generously topped with plenty of white truffle, an Asian inspired seabass with pak choi and samphire (took a lot of work to find out the German word for that one!), a venison dish wrapped in what can only be described as the best fried bread ever served with dates and topped with pomegranate, and last but by no means least, a dessert that I can only describe as the most unctuous chocolate orange pudd I have ever had, a bit like a deconstructed \u00a0Jaffa cake (will any German readers know what one of those is?), which sadly got eaten before I had a chance to
