Long term readers will already know how much I love a market – especially one that involves food!<\/p>\n

I spent hours in Copenhagen’s Torvehallerne<\/a>, and you would find me most weeks (usually getting told off<\/a> for picking something or other up) wandering Munich’s beautiful Viktualienmarkt<\/a>…<\/p>\n

Whilst we don’t have anything quite on that scale in our present city, we do have a really lovely Farmer’s market<\/a>… It takes place in the city centre every two weeks, and as last weekend was the twentieth anniversary (and we were up with the larks anyway as you might expect with a Three-Year-old!) we headed into town for an early breakfast and a little bit of food treasure hunting afterwards!<\/p>\n

Whilst we are originally from the area, having lived away for a long time a lot of these local businesses are new to us, so it was so lovely to see such a huge variety of locally grown produce.\u00a0 Hampshire is a bit of a treasure trove when it comes to local food, and it happens to do a great line in locally made wines and gin too!<\/p>\n

It’s obviously asparagus season as there was masses of the stuff.\u00a0 \u00a0We also met The Queen (in bee form) thanks to Mrs B’s Bees.\u00a0 \u00a0 I could have spent hours watching her move about the frame (she had a tiny blue dot painted at the end of her tail so you can easily spot her!)…<\/p>\n

We eventually came home with rhubarb, oysters, cheese, bread, one beautiful giant tomato (Isle of Wight tomatoes are amazing!) and flowers (not for eating obviously)…<\/p>\n

I will leave you with a few pictures from our morning anyway, It’s something I did whilst we lived abroad so it only seems right to give you a glimpse of what a decent Farmer’s Market is like at “home” too…<\/p>\n
