I spent ages trying to get a decent portrait of these delicate little creatures when we were in France, they were everywhere…\u00a0\u00a0 I love Hummingbird Moths<\/a> – we have a few in Bavaria too, but I have yet to manage to capture one perfectly.\u00a0\u00a0 As you can see from my attempts below, the results weren’t amazing.\u00a0\u00a0 My camera can’t cope with the speed of their wings (soon to be rectified with a new camera, can’t wait!) and their constant movement, and neither obviously can the photographer…<\/p>\n

And on it went… I took around 50 pictures in all, and none of them good enough.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But then, just as I was about to put the camera down, I looked up to see this…<\/p>\n

Is there anything more delicate than a butterfly’s wings?\u00a0 They really do set them apart from all other insects don’t they?\u00a0 After all, to use the words of The Five Year Old – “without them they are just a thin spider”, not that he has ever deprived any poor creature of any wings or legs hopefully! \u00a0 It sat and posed quite happily, and for me this one picture made up for all of those of its frustrating smaller relations!<\/p>\n
