It’s that time of year again…\u00a0 A couple of weeks before the start of the big bierfest that Munich is most famous for, many smaller regional versions spring up in the surrounding area.\u00a0 Herbstfests (Autumn Fests) are traditionally held to celebrate the end of harvest season, and (for me anyway, while we are here at least) signal the real start of Autumn…\u00a0 They tend to feel a bit more authentic, and give a real insight into how Bavarian’s like to let their hair down (with plenty of food, bier, music and laughter it seems!).\u00a0 Plus, given that there are generally far fewer tourists at these fests, the bier tends to be cheaper than at Oktoberfest<\/a> too!<\/p>\n

Should you happen to be in Bavaria at the end of August\/beginning to mid September, keep an eye out\u00a0 for posters advertising Herbsfests, there are plenty to choose from!…\u00a0 It’s a brilliant way to spend an afternoon –\u00a0 and as I guarantee that after a Ma\u00df or two your German language skills\u00a0 seem to improve dramatically, it’s a great way to make new friends!…<\/p>\n
