<\/a><\/p>\nI realised on Monday that we have been here for exactly three months!…\u00a0 A quarter of a year already!\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes it actually feels shorter than that, as there are still a fair few boxes lying around the place that need unpacking and sorting!<\/p>\n
And sometimes it feels as though we haven’t moved at all, thanks to the incredible ice-age temperatures we have been experiencing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I think the lowest reading I have seen was a bitterly cold -20\u00b0C which made the lowest temperature we experienced in Copenhagen (-12\u00b0C) feel positively balmy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The worst (and most unexpected) thing about such a dry cold is the massive static shocks we all keep getting too (to add to the list of unpleasant sensations when your fingers already feel like they are going to snap off with cold!)!<\/p>\n
So, what have we achieved in those three months, if anything? :-<\/p>\n

- Not much German yet (on my part mostly!), but that ball is now rolling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- We have spent time with plenty of family – our sixth lot of guests arrive on Saturday! \u00a0\u00a0 (We have found that the first year in any new location makes you feel incredibly popular,\u00a0 friends and family naturally want to come and see where you are and explore your new surroundings.\u00a0 The second year typically makes you feel slightly less in demand, as they have all been to see you by then and the visits suddenly begin to tail off!…)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- One happy person in a new job.\u00a0\u00a0 Which is always a bonus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- Two happy children in their new school.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Believe me, not so long ago there was a stage where I wasn’t sure if I could ever use the words “happy” and “school” in the same sentence when it came to our daughter.\u00a0\u00a0 I just thought that she would always be a reluctant student (a bit like her mother), but thankfully this particular school seems to be much more suited, and is more or less perfect for the pair of them\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (which makes the whole entire move including every single part of upheaval worth it). \u00a0 The Six Year old has some catching up to do in a couple of areas after Scandinavia, but I am sure it won’t be long before she is cursive scribing like the rest of them.\u00a0 Big fat phew.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- The neighbours now recognise us and we can now greet each other (albeit in sign language);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- I miss my friends in Denmark (and the UK obviously!), but slowly but surely I am beginning to meet new people here too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- I can’t get over how friendly everyone is.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes really.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
So all in all a positive round up!\u00a0 Fingers crossed for the next three months then!<\/p>\n
