It was Parent’s Evening recently (except that it was actually during the day, and they call it something far more involved instead!)! Thankfully both of The Small People sound like they are thriving in their new environment, and the Seven Year Old has more than caught up after the slow and (at times) painful start to her school life in our previous location!
Of course I sat straight-faced and serious as they both proudly showed me their work, but it at times it was a bit of a struggle keeping my composure…
It is amazing the things you can find out at these things though! Like below for example, taken from a project called “Snakes” by the Five Year Old… (apologies for the poor quality of the pics, they were taken with a camera phone and a very wobbly hand from surpressed giggling!)…
Oh really? I actually hope not…
Yes. Books are very important to snakes. It is imperative that each snake household owns at least one copy of “How to Swallow an Egg Whole” and “Skin Shedding For Dummies”…
Well, at least it wasn’t like his last “Parent’s Evening” at his pre-school in Copenhagen, when I was greeted by this beautiful portrait of me that was given pride of place on a display wall outside the classroom!…
A hectic week with my lovely Mum here! She’s not one for sitting still and relaxing bless her, and we have been out investigating all sorts this week. Will report back very soon!

I’m not coming to stay again if Sam has a pet Aidy! x
bavaria says
Don’t worry he hasn’t… Not one that I know about anyway!! :) xxx
Mary says
Well, the whole post made me chuckle but the final portrait of you actually made me spit my tea out! :)
bavaria says
Thank you Mary… I laughed at the time. I had to, or I might have actually cried… :D
Pia says
i agree, every member of the household needs to have a book to read – so what if it has to live in a glass box. love, love the finer details in the portrait. that one’s for keeps! :)
bavaria says
I love how their minds work at this age. They are hilarious! Thanks Pia :)
Frankie Parker says
Of course a snake needs a book to learn that makes a lot of sense… Doesn’t it??
But that picture is a total crack up, i would of wanted the ground to open up and swallow me…
bavaria says
Yes, of course! The last piece of invaluable advice he gave was “do not buy poisonous ones. Some are, and some are not!”… Cute!
I can’t believe how fat I am in that picture, how I have no hair and how I am more than a little top heavy!! Little toad!
Erica Price says
Love the boobs. My son is boob obsessed too, but not yet featured on a picture. We do have a lego booby though!
bavaria says
Thanks Erica… A lego booby, now that’s creative! :)
Helen from The good life mum says
lol love the attention to detail of the boobies in the picture
bavaria says
Thanks Helen! I don’t think boys ever grow out of boob obsessions either do they?
farfromhomemama says
I take it you had the portrait blown up and displayed in your home? Are your boobs really the same size as your head? I think this might be the funniest post I’ve read all week. Hooray for parents evenings.
bavaria says
Thank you! Yes, they actually are. That’s why I look so unsteady on my feet! (actually that’s a big fat lie, they are not at all!!)… Hooray for parents evenings indeed! :)

Kelloggsville beat me to it in complimenting you on an impressive chest!
Isn’t Aidy a nice name for a snake…
bavaria says
Thank you! :) I am honestly not sure where Aidy came from. But if he ever gets a pet, that’s going to be its name!!
MsCaroline says
I was about to ask if you really did have a snake!
Love the portrait as well… thank God we don’t all really look like the portraits our children draw of us!
Enjoy your Mum!
bavaria says
I know, it would be a very funny world indeed though wouldn’t it? Thank you (:
Kelloggsville says
Oh bless, thats a pair of boobs and a half to live up to!
bavaria says
Yes, a portrait thankfully not at all lifelike!! (:
