Pictures from an afternoon in Munich.
Not a walk this time, more of a leisurely stroll – combined with lots of refreshment stops along the way. Numerous shade-seeking excuses were used to park ourselves in bier gartens, so we could sit and enjoy a little of what Munich’s famous for. Grateful for the coolness provided by the giant Chesnut trees, planted for that very purpose hundreds of years ago.
The food on the stalls in the Viktualienmarkt gives subtle hints as to the approaching change in seasons – not welcomed I guess by those determined to make the most of the summer, and what’s left of it.
A special day spent with family, full of laughter and messages from friends and loved ones further afield. I always love this time of year wherever we are. Birthdays are my favourite.

I loved Munich when I visited a million years ago (1998 feels like a million years ago) for the Oktoberfest. Those meats look delicious

I can’t think of a better way to spend a birthday than in a Biergarten (or three) in Munich , although I had to look twice to ascertain that one of those photos was actually a margarita – you non-traditionalist! ; ) Happy Belated Birthday!
Thanks Caroline, I did have a more traditional Bavarian drink in the biergarten as well :D
