It was Mardis Gras on Tuesday. Can understand why some people find them frightening… Now to me, the large man wearing very little apart from an Angela Merkel mask was scary (but funny!)… :D
Quite possibly :D I think in this setting they were fine. Had I seen them on their own on the way home at some ungodly hour though, they would have frightened the bejeesus out of me! :D
Carnivale! or however you say it in German! A good play on the whole horse meat affair as well I take it? Even though I see one is technically a unicorn!
Rosenmontag? We went to Cologne when carnival was just starting the other year & it seemed such a strange concept to us. Guessing its lots of fun too when it really gets going.
Faschingdienstag is the big day here… I don’t know that they actually do anything for rosenmontag in these parts! Was great fun to witness though, next year I am dressing up! :D

That is by far the strangest, and yet most appropriate, photo I’ve seen this week!!!
Thank you! They made me laugh! :D
Horses in parkas. Whatever next, a horse in my lasagne.
Cracking foto (again)
Thank you :) Much appreciated! Steer clear of that Lasagne! :D
are these horses looking so scared because they have been tagged for beef burgers?
Yes. And Lasagne and chilli! :D Thank you! :)
Those are cool! Love it… I’m so glad you came by to share on Weekly Top Shot #70!
Thanks Madge! Thanks for hosting! :D
For a moment I thought the umbrella was attached to the horn and was rather impressed with German ingenuity.
Don’t put it past them! :D Thanks Cat! :)
Oh my! What a great capture!
Thanks Laura! :)
Great shot!
Thank you Pat! :)
:)) A unicorn and a horse in avid conversation – talk about being at the right place at the right time (and with a camera). Super shot, Emma!
Thank you Pia, loved this pair, they did make me laugh! :)
so guessing thats not you then? love them!
Tis not me unfortunately. I was very bad and didn’t dress up. Will next year though! :D
hilarious!
Thank you :D
Hahaha! crazy people :-D
Lots of them about on this particular day Lou! :D
really funny shot Emma – they look seriously spooked don’t they? Something very disconcerting about seeing a unicorn in a tweed coat.. x
Thank you! If I were a unicorn, I might wear tweed. Didn’t check for hunter wellies! :D x
This scares me a little! What are they celebrating?

Do people normally dress like this in your neck of the woods :-)
Only at this time of year! Thanks Jess! :D
“Outraged by the meat scandal in the UK? You bet your lasagne we are!”
Haha… Although not just in the UK, seems to be Europe wide now… :/
i hope they were not waiting outside Tesco!! lol
Me too… :D
Oh my goodness. Is that one of Mother Venting’s escaped unicorns?! Great shot, although for me they are slightly unnerving.
Quite possibly :D I think in this setting they were fine. Had I seen them on their own on the way home at some ungodly hour though, they would have frightened the bejeesus out of me! :D
Fab shot – I can just imagine what a great event that must be. Is that snow I can see?
Thanks Fiona… Yes, still lots of blinking snow! :D
Such a cool photo! I bet they are not too happy about their friends and family mixed with cow’s meat! lol :) x
Thanks Lilinha… I think they are drinking to get over the news! :D
This right here is the reason you should get a MAD award for your Photography!!!! I love the fact you live somewhere where this is just normal ;)
Thank you as always for linking up with Photo of The Week Emma XXX
Thank you lovely! Only normal for Carnival, strictly not at any other time of the year! :D xxxx
Great photo but scary eyes!!
Aren’t they? They did look funny amongst everyone else. I saw someone with a hippo head like this too! :D
Oh no, that’s freaky and too scary. I couldn’t do these carnivals.
Not good if you have a costume phobia no… Great atmosphere though! :D
Freaky, but fun.
Quite! Thank you :)
I hope their heads are waterproof!!
I think they were… Probably good thinking on their part. Was funny watching the brown horse trying to drink a bottle of beer though! :D
That’s ever so slightly scary!!
Honestly, there were far scarier sites to be seen here! :D
Awesome, but then I expect nothing less from you. xx
Aw you are lovely, thank you! :) xx
oh they are unusual aren’t they!
Not something you see everyday here no! :D
Carnivale! or however you say it in German! A good play on the whole horse meat affair as well I take it? Even though I see one is technically a unicorn!
I did think of that when I saw them! Thanks B! :)
very interesting photo, great capture xx
Thanks Wendy! :)
That’s freaky! I always love your photos, they’re so different from everyone else’s :)
Thanks so much Sarah! Different is good! :D

Thanks Shahnaz! :D
They look as outraged about the horse meat scandal as the rest of the UK!
Maybe they’ve just been told there are people in their lasagne! :D
lol! love your photos :) they look surprised to be having their picture taken x
Thanks Louise! :D
