At the start of a New Year…
Not taken on the 1st January, but this morning on the way to school.
This part of Hampshire is truly stunning, and I have passed this stretch of the River Test so many times and thought “I should have stopped to take a picture before the sky changes”, and this morning, as there was no traffic, I did just that (much to the annoyance of my offspring)!
I wanted to wish you all a slightly belated New Year. 2019 proved to be a good year for us in terms of settling down in a part of the country that we know best (and quite honestly are much happier in for various reasons!).
Stage one of our renovations were completed by February (if I learned anything from that it’s to hire a good few dust filters before any work begins, and take out another mortgage for the mountains of chocolate biscuits that builders manage to get through). Owning our own home that we can do with what we want has definitely helped us with the repatriation process (which is a lengthy one, believe me!), and we have been able to get rid of much of the evidence of the previous owners (just the blue shed to go!!)…
I was about to say we didn’t travel all that much, but looking back we drove to Garmisch via Trier in the Spring (expect another Bavarian Ski Trip shortly!), at Easter we introduced the children to Wales and the Isle of Wight, before a summer US road trip to Charleston, Savannah, and Florida (much of which I have yet to write up). I also had a fabulous trip to see one of my oldest friends in Singapore at the start of September before the rest of the year just flew right on by (which you will get to read about soon enough too, don’t feel obliged though obviously!)…
If anyone still reads blogs anymore, it’s been nice to have some company along the way. I hope you will join me for 2020. I plan to post slightly more frequently in my little corner of the internet as the dust quite literally settles. A Bavarian Sojourn has been a part of our lives for too long to just give it all up. And as it’s a good record of our life as our little family grows, I am sure that I at least will appreciate reading it back one day!
I hope 2020 is good to you all. x

So pleased to hear you’ve settled in your new home. Looks like this move has been a good one for you. My blogging has been a bit irregular. I have so much still to write about our Japan holiday. I think it will take me all of 2020 to do it! The problem is – other travels get in the way of writing! x

I have the urge to move abroad again most days, but if we are to be in the UK for any length of time I am grateful that we are in an area that means something to us! I know what you mean about the travelling getting in the way of the writing! :D xx
