Almost running out of light at Stockbridge Down (not all that far from where we live now)…
I think I last visited over 20 years ago, and it’s lovely to see it hasn’t changed all that much (although having said that there are bits fenced off that I don’t think were previously?).
As well as having the most magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, Stockbridge Down is also a protected butterfly reserve (home to over 30 species), not that you are likely to see many at this time of year…. But, if you listen carefully you will definitely hear the echoes of the past as you wander – it’s home to an Iron Age Hill Fort and multiple Bronze Age burial mounds.
It’s a really beautiful place to blow away a few Christmas cobwebs with mere hours to go until a whole New Year is in front of us. We have high hopes for you 2019!!
2018 has been full of changes, and whilst it’s mostly been positive for us as we adjust to being “English” again for a while, it hasn’t been the easiest year for a lot of friends and loved ones. Here’s hoping 2019 brings lots of good things especially in the health and happiness department.
Have a wonderful New Year, however you celebrate it, and as always a big thank you for continuing to support my little corner of the internet! See you next year!!
