Apologies for the silence on my part, it appears that I was not meant to write much this week…
Anyway, I have been busy, I have a new favourite city to add to my vast collection. A city that I could happily flourish in with its immense and hectic ancient city vibe…
Rome might well be a city that I could easily live in – and I spent our time there happily imagining that very thing – but in the back of my mind danced the reality that I would end up the the size of a generous English barn in next to no time thanks to all the incredible food! Don’t ever listen to those who tell you that Rome isn’t the best place for real Italian food – they simply want to keep the place to themselves. When you know where to go (as with most cities I find!), the food is incredible – and completely broadening both in terms of tasting new stuff, and also in the waist-expanding sense.
So I will be back very shortly to tell you all about this amazing living museum of a place, I promise. But here are a few more pictures to keep you happy in the meantime…
A great mixture of photos, old and modern contrast well and the blue sky is so welcome.
Thanks so much Hellie! :)
Awesome pictures! I love that third shot with third shot with the mouth opening door entrance. Really cool to have a door like that as your building entrance.

Isn’t it amazing, I wonder who lives in there? Thanks Bianca! :)
Gorgeous pictures! I love seeing the architectural details. =)
Thanks so much! :)
That pizza looks soooooo goood. I could use a slice right now. I really enjoyed Rome too. There is something magical about the city. Thanks for linking up to the #SundayTraveler!
I can confirm it tasted as good as it looks! Thanks so much! :)
I think I could be a very happy barn-sized person in Rome. I can’t wait to hear more about what you saw – and ate!
Thanks Jess! :)
I looooove Rome and these photos are wonderful! Thanks for linking up to the #SundayTraveler :)
Thank you Ashley! :)
I’ve missed you! Glad to see you back on the blog, and that pizza looks awesome – perfectly melted mozzarella. I’ve never been to Rome, so looking forward to visiting through your wonderful words and photographs. X
Thank you S, you are kind! xx
I’m so pleased you loved it! I fell in love with Rome when I first went in 1998 and returned another three times. I agree with you on the food and wanting to live there too. : D
Amazing isn’t it? Thanks Louisa! :)
THAT PIZZA!
I can confirm that it tasted as good as it looks! Thank’s Rachel! :)
Oh, I am so much with you on Rome’s food. I spent many winter holidays in Rome, and I simply loved the food (either in people’s homes or in the restaurants). I was always hungry and ready to eat (no matter how much food I’ve already had). Looking forward to read more about your Roman adventures.
It was sooo good! Thank you! :)
You’ve captured some beautiful and unique perspectives on Rome. We were there a couple of years ago and enjoyed our visit a lot. It’s just so charming and you’re so right about all that delicious food. I love all the great doors here!
Thanks so much Mary! :)
Can’t wait to hear what you thought of Rome, I loved it – especially the food!
Than you… I loved nearly every single thing! :)
Oh, I really like that door with a man’s face above it! I can’t wait to visit Italy, and finally be able to taste authentic Italian food.
Amazing isn’t it? I hope it’s someone’s house! :) Thank you!
What beautiful photography! I will be checking your blog regularly for more – we’re in the process of planning a trip to Italy :)
Thanks so much Lauren! There are plenty more posts to come, and plenty of older Italian ones in my archive! :)
We wanted to go to Rome as a honeymoon a couple of months after we got married but I got pregnant with the twins before we managed to book it. We have said when they’re bigger we’ll leave them with my parents and have a late honeymoon. It looks amazing!
I have lots of great tips coming up Kirsty when I manage to organise myself! :D Thank you! :)
Thanks Bex. It’s everything you imagine it to be and more! :)
I just love how you captured some different points of Rome. We were there for a few days a few years back, and just loved it. I want to return someday, even if its to eat the pizza, pasta and gelato… hmm mmm. Waist explaining indeed! Thanks for once again linking up to #SundayTraveler
Wow – looks amazing! And the food definitely looks good. I’d love to go, but now I’m worried about coming back the size of a small whale….;)
It’s worth it, believe me! Thanks Molly! :)
I’m pretty sure I could down two of those margherita pizzas in one sitting. I have not been back to this city in quite some time, so thank for sharing these gorgeous photos!
Thanks so much Dave! :)
Lovely original photos of a beautiful city.

I want that pizza – NOW!
It was pretty good! :D
I have only been once to Rome and that was… 30 years ago.
I must go back.
In fact, just texted Sexy Hubby to say “we have to go to Rome”. He is probably wondering where this is coming from! ;)
Fabulous pictures. xx
Brilliant! You will love it, I am sure! :) Thank you xx
Gorgeous! Looking forward to your recommendations for Rome!
