I like to think I am organised in terms of photography when anticipating a visit to any architecturally interesting place. It turns out that I am not though, and my camera battery enjoyed a day charging away at home (sorry planet!) when it should have obviously been elsewhere.
However, all was not lost, and hence this BMW World post is brought to you by the powers of Instagram, and also by Google who kindly store my phone camera pics without me even asking them to(!).
Gorgeous light in here. The cars aren’t bad either…. #bmwwelt #bmw #munchen #munich A photo posted by Emma (@bavariansojourn) on
And whilst the small boy enjoyed a friend’s party at the impressive Junior Campus (a post on which will follow at some point!), we spent the majority of the day wandering about, enjoying the building itself, the beautiful cars, people-watching (you can also watch new cars being presented to their new owners here!), and a very very decent lunch at Bavarie, one of the many restaurants inside.

Macaron anyone? #foodies #food A photo posted by Emma (@bavariansojourn) on
If you are planning on visiting Munich with children (keep an eye out at 11am and 2pm for the indoor motorbike show!), or with someone with an interest in architectural spaces, or more obviously with someone who is a big fan of cars, then this is a place you must visit. If you are travelling with someone who likes none of those things, but happens to like good food, then this place is also for you, from the macarons to the oysters to the bouillabaisse! Enjoy.

so much that my child would love here, but I love the idea of people being presented with their cars and that you can watch! Although, I’d probably end up shouting something about bicycles and the planet.
I’m not very good with expensive cars, it brings out the green warrior in me!
Emma says
Thanks Gemma. Totally agree, but you might like their hybrid and electric cars. We need to invent one that runs on something useless! :D

Wow! What a fabulous building. Am not at all interested in cars, but the food and the building would have me
Emma says
That’s what I enjoyed too! Thanks Sally! :)

After many years working for Opel, I’ve been conditioned to dislike any competitor brands but as my husband drives a BMW, I guess I could perhaps pencil in a tour of BMW World. I’ve actually known about this place for quite a while … their vehicle handovers are legendary in the automotive world :-)
Emma says
I thought the handovers were just a big joke, I didn’t realise that they actually do them like that! :D Thanks Rachel! It’s a lovely building, and there’s good cake if all else fails! :D x
Alison says
This looks a really interesting place to visit and your food looks delicious
Emma says
Thank you Alison! :)

I’d never usually think about visiting somewhere called BMW World, but would now, after reading your post! So much more on offer than just cars, though possibly been swayed by the food… Can’t believe your daughter chose oysters! xx
Emma says
Thank you T! BMW is a huge deal here in Munich, and most people are proud of their homegrown success story. I do love how they present the new cars, I think that’s very sweet, but mostly I went for the food! :D And yes, my daughter will eat absolutely anything at all apart from baked beans! :D xx
Emma says
What a great place for a party, and your lunch looks lovely :-)
Emma says
Thanks Emma! Lunch was a definite highlight for me! :)
Trish says
This is unbelievable! I love it – the cars, people watching, fancy nosh… Do any other car manufacturers do this? Peugeot Plaza? Ford Forum? Mercedes Market?
Emma says
I am not sure… I think the marketing people at BMW are very very clever! I think your boys would love it! :D xx
becky says
ooh those macaroons look good x
Emma says
They do don’t they? Thanks Becky! :) x
