If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you will know that the subject I probably harp on about most is missing friends and family during our time away. Friends and family whose lives evolve without you there, and whose lives you truly feel like you are missing out on when it comes to small people growing up, and slightly older people growing older still… But you have to try and be positive about these things – after all change is not always bad. It’s my mantra that it should be embraced for the good too – for it would be a life half lived should things remain forever the same wouldn’t it? And I am most definitely all for embracing change when a close family member embarks on an exciting new project – despite being gutted that it’s a lot harder to get my hands on most of her gorgeous stuff …
Let me introduce you to Cherry Vintage – the brainchild of my Baby Sister Victoria who is based in St.Margarets, South West London. These are the environs that we once also called home (and still miss soooo much) – the perfect location for a venture such as this – surrounded as it is by beautiful neighbours, and with the city of London a few miles up the road…
Victoria has been known to unearth broken furniture in the corner of a garden, has then taken it home (she has a very patient other half who swapped his car for a van for her new venture – that has to be true love doesn’t it?), restored it to its original glory (albeit a completely fixed and elevated version of its former self!) and returned it to its original owner for the sheer enjoyment of it. She has customers that are already returning time and again with other pieces of furniture that have needed a new lease of life, or a step up on the ladder of upholstery – upcycling at its best don’t you think? Re-conditioning and “re-appreciating” furniture has to be better than sending it to landfill! Should you be on the look out for a particular piece of furniture by the way, do give her a shout. She is slightly addicted to auctions I have noticed, and the challenge of finding a customer exactly what it is they are looking for!
And when she’s not spending time sourcing furniture, speaking to customers about their wishes, re-upholstering or sewing – all under the helpful eye of her rather gorgeous accomplice – then she’s a pretty dab hand with a paintbrush too as you might expect in this line of work (and on that paintbrush note, a big thank you to ParcelHero for showing me how easy it can be to get things sent back home*by delivering a very lovely Annie Sloan paintbrush to Victoria on my behalf as a little surprise!)…
Good luck with it all sweetie, and I look forward to commissioning several pieces shortly. Do you think you would mind just popping them over in the van??
PS. Cherry Vintage, Victoria (and perhaps her little assistant?) will be at the St. Margarets Fair on the 12th July should you happen to be in the area!
*disclaimer, Parcel Hero got in touch and asked if they could send something to a special someone on my behalf. I wasn’t paid to give them a mention, and having now used their services I can give them a vote of confidence!

Oh isn’t she talented! Fabulous items. Wishing her every success.

St. Margaret’s is the perfect place for the venture. (Our dentist was in St.M’s before we left West London) Good luck to your sis, her work is lovely. I am in love with her pooch too…

I already follow on Facebook and her things are so gorgeous. Best of luck x
Thank you Liz xx
I LOVE this stuff! I’ve started hunting out pieces like this for our home. I’d love to do a similar thing but sadly I don’t have a garden or garage to do it in, I’m not sure an apartment balcony would cut it :-( Maybe one day when I finally get a house…
Thank you Rachel… Any outdoor space should do it – you could start with smaller pieces! :)
What a beautiful collection of items. I am re-doing my bedroom so I might have a look sometime. I love that chair!
