The youngest member of our family wanted to “write in the book” for the Queen before the long weekend – and light a candle (although I think that was more about the novelty of lighting it by himself more than anything else), so we went to the Cathedral after school on Friday to pay our respects. This building takes my breath away every time I step through its doors, especially with the light streaming through the huge stained glass windows like this. The amount of history it has seen including centuries of different monarchs.
I am not particularly a royalist, but the cathedral did a great job with its tribute to The Queen and the screening of her funeral. A somber few days with the kind of pageantry the English do so well…
