If you have been reading my blog(s) for a while you might remember the exotic pets I discovered “we owned” at last year’s parent’s evening? You might even remember the amazing portrait of me completed by the then Three Year Old (as seen at the bottom of the post in the link above), and which took pride of place outside of the classroom for many weeks… In which case then you might not be disappointed by this year’s addition – Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present “A Portrait of my Mother” by the now Six Year old, undertaken in a Modigliani inspired style…
I am googling Munich rhinoplasty clinics and hairdressers as we speak…
In other news, it’s been quite a sad afternoon having had to inform the Small People of the untimely demise of one of my Mother’s alpacas who was found “asleep” in his paddock. I have always been open about mortality with the Small People, and they accept matters of life and death surprisingly well for such a young age (and considering their Mother is usually an emotional wreck when it comes to such things). Both of them said how much they would miss him when we visited, and how lonely his brother must be. The Eight Year old announced she was sorry she didn’t get to say goodbye, even if he had kicked her (accidentally) on one occasion.
Goodnight lovely Euan, sleep well…
An old and wobbly picture of Euan and his brother Joseph standing behind…

I absolutely love that picture! Quite an artist you’ve got there ;) Thanks for linking to Oldies but Goodies this week :)
Thank you! I need to get it framed! :D x
Did Modgliani maybe do big noses as part of his art? Like Picasso did? To be fair it’s a pretty good piece of art for a 6 year old.
No according to him, my nose really is that big! Thank you, I love their artwork at that age! :D
interesting that the 6 year old has given you the neck of an alpaca in the portrait.
Interesting, or insulting… I am not sure which! :D
I like the picture, you should see the ones my little boy draws of me, I have giant hands apparently.
Sorry about Euan :-(
I do wonder how they actually see us sometimes! :D Thanks Emma
To be fair rhinoplasty may not be necessary, but giraffeplasty could be recommended
Thank you Bass… I think you might be right! :D
I love how long your neck is!! :) those Alpacas are gorgeous. RIP Euan
Aw thank you. Hopefully Barnaby will arrive tomorrow too! :)
Boobs or serious shoulder pads??!! Very ‘unique’ style, it may raise serious cash in years to come!
Sorry to hear about the alpaca :-(
xx Jazzy
Fingers crossed hey! Thank you Jazzy, oh and they are definitely shoulders, the artist confirmed this with me! :D
What a fab portrait! Sorry to hear about Euan the alpaca x
Thank you Mama S. Yes, poor old thing… I am quite glad we only have a hamster, it’s going to be awful enough when something happens to him! :D x
Remembering your chest from last year’s drawing, I too thought the blue lumps were your boobs eager to get into the picture!
Eager to get into the picture made me laugh… :D Thanks Trish!
Maybe I can share a big secret – we have just made the phone call to confirm a new brother for Joseph – this time he is called Barnaby and looks just like Euan. Fingers crossed he can arrive this weekend because it is heartbreaking to see Joseph alone in the paddock – he is totally deaf and relied on his brother to make him aware of what is happening – so we imagine he must be feeling very scared and lonely on his own. x
I love a story with a happy ending… Hurry up Barnaby! xxx
Are the blue lumps your boobs?! Gee whizz!
No, they are my Shoulders! :D I was only wearing one shoulder pad that day!….
It will be interesting to see what he comes up with as a Nine Year Old!!
Sad about Euan and his now lonely brother. xx
Hmmm… Yes! :D Thank you, his poor lonely brother is very sad about it all. I think they should get a replacement brother, preferably before our next visit!
How sad – we’ve only had to deal with pet chicken death here and the kids were remarkably sanguine about it – I fear, though the day when Fred the dog meets his demise. I LOVE the pictures kids draw of us – this is awesome – you should frame it!
Thank you Sally. Yes, I might well frame the picture! :D
wonderful!
I now know who to look out for at BritMums Live! No red carnation required – you’ll stick out a mile!
Must print out this picture to take with me…
Yes, I suppose you’re right! I will at least stand out! So glad to hear you’re going, can’t wait to meet you! :)
I’m sure Modigliani’s drawings looked just like that at six! Love the colours. Yes the nose does ‘stand out’, but it’s the nostrils that grab attention. You look lovely, Emma :)
I’m sorry about Euan. Isn’t it nice though how the kids thought about his lonely brother?
You are took kind Pia, thank you! :D
I have a hilarious family portrait done by Son#1 when he was about 5 years old that makes me look like a crazed clown. By comparison, your portrait is quite lovely. And I do love your hair color. So sorry to hear about Euan, but endlessly impressed that your mum keeps alpacas. That’s so much more interesting than a cat or a dog!
Thank you Caroline, I am slightly surprised by my hair colour, but apparently there was no brown. Yes, it’s quite farmlike at their house and apart from everything else they also have cats and dogs! :D
i think that is really artistic and creative love the detail
Thanks Helen…I am not so keen on a few aspects! :D
My, what a long neck you have! I’m sorry to hear about Euan the Alpaca :(
Quite alpaca-esque actually isn’t it? Thank you…
Yes, it is! :)
Thank you :)
It’s funny how are children see us. I dread the day the wee man will start drawing pictures of me!
Sometimes it’s funny, and sometimes it’s not so funny! :D
