A few pictures from a recent walk (and lunch!) in the Englischer Gartens... Back garden to a huge majority of Munich residents, and playground to many too, including the city’s surfers. Soon enough the bier gartens will shut up shop for the winter and the benches will be packed away, but the gardens remain popular all year round, whatever the weather.
And I think that this was the first time that I really noticed that slowly, whilst none of us were even looking, Autumn crept in.

Thank you for making my day with your beautiful photos. After 3 years near Munich, I’ve been back in the UK for well over a decade and I still miss Bavaria. Time to plan a visit I think!

Thank you for your lovely comment Rachel! Hope you get to revisit soon! :)

Wow! that beer looks good! and the surfing must be such fun to watch, or do? xx
bavaria says
I think I can safely say that there is no way I will ever be getting on one of those boards! I have a crazy (hello Katie!) friend from Ireland who may well be tempted to give it a go when she comes to visit though, she surfs all the time! :D

This is such a calm, happy morning series. I do love morning walks. And your photographs kind of sum up the best bits!
bavaria says
Aw thanks Pia! Such a beautiful time of year isn’t it? :)

Thanks Erica! :)

Gorgeous photos, as ever. I love the bushy red tail – it’s even cuter than if he had played nicely and posed for you. I like a squirrel with mystique.
bavaria says
Thank you. Lots of bemusement going on at the two foreign ladies taking pictures of a “”boring old squirrel” to the people in the park. They obviously don’t know about our “no red squirrels, only greys” situation in the UK! :D

A Tufty – WOWser!
bavaria says
Shame he wouldn’t pose for me! :) There are quite a few reds here, but they are under threat from their version of the grey squirrel which is actually almost black…

I’m thinking Munich is getting higher up my list of places to visit….those chaps are a top attraction!

Good. You could always send the boys off to the Deutsches Museum or something, and I will meet you for a picnic there. The views are quite nice! ;)

Did you ask those guys to stand for your photo?
Fabulous photos and I LOVE your squirrel, makes me want to get my boots out this weekend but they’re forecasting rain again :(
bavaria says
Thanks Mari… No I didn’t, but they just fitted in the frame nicely!! :D Boo to rain, hope it stays away! :) xx

Stunning photos Emma! Love the squirrel that’s no good at hiding (or is he having 40 winks?) and the light patterns on the leaves. Beautiful. City surfing looks interesting too!
bavaria says
Thank you! He was definitely camera shy! I think he’s hiding his nuts! :)

at first i thought the totally-fit-guys-with-surfboards photo was a joke, but i see that it is not. geez, surfing in the city. good one. i so enjoy traveling via the internet—you learn something new every day.
bavaria says
Thank you! I think it was a bit of a surprise for me too the first time that I saw it! They are usually there every day! :)

bavaria says
Thank you! Mine too! Yep, I took the squirrel, but he was far too busy getting ready for winter to show me his face! :D
