This is how Christmas and New Year have looked here in Bavaria. A little bit cold, mostly bright, but no snow – that is up until today. So I am making the most of the peace and quiet whilst the baby sleeps and everyone else is out sledging to try to catch up… We have had 14 guests since the arrival of our newest member of the family back in the middle of October, and things have been hectic (but fun!) to say the least!
A big thank you for all of your comments, messages and support during 2015. I will remember it for many things, both good and bad, and look forward to opening a new chapter with a brand new year. 2016 promises to be an exciting year, and one in which I hope to be back to my usual publishing frequency now that the baby is approaching 3 months (already!)…
I will leave you with a little traditional glucksschwein to wish each and every one of you a fabulous New Year. May 2016 be the best yet. Emma x

Love your photos, as usual. I took a somewhat similar one to your trees one, showing our current weather. It is not dry and cold here. It is very, very wet with a number of storms visiting our shores of late, so my trees were reflecting in the storm-made lake in which they now stand!!
Can’t believe your baby is 3 months old! If you’d like a little knitted something for him just let me know, I’d be happy to do it :)
Happy New Year to you all. xx
Emma says
Thanks so much V. I love your knitting, but I also know how busy you are!! A very happy New Year to all of you too! :) xx

Happy New Year to you and yours Emma. I would LOVE some snow. It is damp, dark and unseasonable mild here in North Yorkshire!
Emma says
Thanks very much Jen. If we get more I will try to send some your way, although I did see something on the news earlier that said you might be in for a cold snap very soon! :)
Ginger says
Happy New Year, Emma! Time flies with a little one, a friend of mine had a baby recently, but when she came to visit over the holidays it was already close to turning one … I hope you’re enjoying every minute, and if not it’s because you are asleep!

Emma says
Thanks Ginger! Have a brilliant 2016! Yes, I am enjoying every single moment! I had forgotten how lovely (if not a little knackering!) the baby years are! :) x

Rosie @Eco-Gites of Lenault says
I love the snow on the hazel trees and it’s immature catkins. A lovely reminder that whilst winter might be here at the moment spring will soon take its place.
Happy New Year to you too and here’s wishing you a fabulous 2016 from an, as yet, snow-free Normandy.
Emma says
Thanks so much Rosie! A very brilliant 2016 to you and yours! :)

What a beautiful forest, I bet everyone was chomping at the bit this morning when they woke up to snow outside!
Emma says
They couldn’t wait to get outside! Thanks Fiona! (:
Kerri-Ann says
Wow that really is a beautiful image. That first picture. The light is stunning. Sadly things haven’t been that clear here, very dull and gloomy, the skies full of rain. #MySundayPhoto
Emma says
Here’s hoping for sunnier skies in the UK soon… Thanks Kerri-Ann! (:

Happy new year!! I hope you had a great Christmas and a lovely start to 2016. Your weather looks infinitely better than ours. We have been ‘blessed’ with a month of drizzle turning in to rain, turning back in to drizzle. Just wonderful ;)
Emma says
We had a lovely Christmas thank you. Guests left just before New Year, I am still not organised! :D Hope you had a good one too, and the weather behaves soon enough! :)xx
Emma T says
Love that top shot with the sunlight streaming through the trees. Brr to the snow. I’m happy we’ve not had any here, although the rain’s not been great.
Happy new year for 2016
Emma says
Thank you! I hear you might be in for a cold snap, you may get snow yet!! Have a brilliant 2016! :)
Phoebe @ Lou Messugo says
Happy New Year to you too Emma! Looks like your winter has been good so far, “a little bit cold and mostly bright” sounds wonderful though a little bit of snow is fun too. We went to England for Christmas where it as a little bit (too) warm and mostly howling gale and wet! Not fun. Luckily the Riviera is mostly sunny.
Emma says
England does look like it’s had one miserable wet winter so far… Thanks Phoebe! Have a great year! (:
Notmyyearoff says
Oh wow snow!! I think I’ve given up on it visiting here. Mind you, knowing our luck I bet it’ll be bang in school time when my car has to go in for work ;) Happy new year to you all Emma xx
