We haven’t been back to England for Easter for a little while, but this year we managed it, spending time with family first in South West London before moving down south for Easter itself.
I am not a religious person, but the older I get the more I appreciate Easter for the big family gatherings (without any of the pressure of Christmas, and minus the present buying!), the start of Spring, and the hot cross bun eating opportunities.
Our time in London was taken up with treasured family get togethers and meeting my tiny nephew for the first time, along with walks along the river, and the niceness of being amongst familiar streets plus the great shops and restaurants.
The countryside provided healthy doses of vitamin D (before Storm Katie arrived) and plenty of lengthy stick bearing/pond inspecting walks for the small people, with pub garden pit stops for the grown ups before the main event of Easter lunch.

We saved the egg hunt for afterwards which worked well as blackmail efforts go, and meant the grown ups got the biggest share of the simnel cake!

I remember these holidays as a teenager, bored beyond belief and desperate to get away from family gatherings. It’s funny how this reverses in time isn’t it, it was so nice to be home.
Off to Venice today for the remainder of the holiday for yet another family gathering, but no hot cross buns.
Speak soon.

Lovely Emma, I definitely appreciate family time more now than I used to as well. I hope you’re having a fab time in Venice.
We had a great time. Thank you x
No hot cross buns but do try some Colomba cake which is lovely and light. I love Easter too, it’s relaxed and like you say, no pressure. Enjoy Venice xxx
Couldn’t see any Colomba cake, maybe we were too late for it! Next time! :D xxx
Couldn’t find any Colomba cake, maybe we were too late for it. I will remember it for next time though! :) xxx
I’m the same as you in that I look forward to Easter for the family time – we’ve had some great fun this Easter x x
I definitely appreciate family time a lot more than I did growing up! Thanks Cass! :)xx
That’s an impressive haul! Your Easter sounds lovely Emma – gorgeous pictures as always. We had a family Easter too with lots of cousins and lots of chocolate! Missing the husband though, but not long now x
Hope that in that respect time speeds up for you T. So glad you had a lovely Easter! :) xx
Love these images as always.
I agree with you that Easter is one of my favourite holidays as I love the family getting together (without the pressure of Christmas), although the amount of chocolate my girls get is a little off the scale!!
We have been creative this year making Easter bonnets, Easter gardens and all our thank you cards. I am not sure my youngest understands that Easter is about religion rather than the Easter Bunny but hey, for now she is happy for us all to be together with our extended family and I will take that for as long as I can!
That’s lovely Donna, thank you x
Sounds like a fabulous Easter break, and quite the Easter egg haul too! And your baby is gorgeous.
Somehow Ireland managed to escape Storm Katie, which was just as well due to our centenary commemorations :) xx
Thanks so much V. Hope you had a good Easter too, and enjoyed the celebrations. x
I love Easter as you say for all the family time. it is lovely. That was one big Stick, that stick boy had an an impressive egg haul!
Two more and he could have made a teepee! Thanks Jen! (:
It is funny how our priorities change over time – wanted to go into the mountains for holidays, walking, but family wasn’t having any of it…
Thanks so much Ginger, such a shame you couldn’t convince them. Were you in Germany?
How lovely to have Easter with your family, hope you enjoy Venice!
Thanks Nadine! (:
It was a very special Easter and to be all together.x
It was. Thanks again xxxx
