Not that I am a doctor, or even a shoe shop assistant, but foot is a bit of an exaggeration, toes seem to be a bit more accurate.

You were right to leave the foot in. It adds an element of mystery. Who does it belong to? Why is the person there? What are they doing? Where are they going? I think you could create a whole story around just that foot.
