A note to explain why I might be quiet for the next few days…
We are currently travelling in Japan, and inbetween sightseeing, trying to keep up with the Small People, and with Mr R (who, having lived here for a while, seems to be on a mission to eat everything on a precompiled list he has- I might really be Big in Japan at the end of this!), I anticipate not having much online time. Never fear, I will be back shortly, and having been here for 2 days so far you might not be that surprised to hear I have already taken over 500 pictures. You have been warned!
Back soon!

Am just coming out of a longish period of frantic end-of-the-school-year activity myself and looking forward to a few weekend trips – looking forward to hearing recommendations! Bonus – you’re so close to Korea, I bet you’ll find it easy to pick up some good kimchi while you’re there! ; )

Wish I could pop over and say hi! Saw some US Navy boys on the beach earlier, I could have asked them to quickly pop me across! Have had some kimchi too! :D x

How exciting! Remember watching Rick Stein on a culinary journey through Japan, and some of the things he tried looked like works of art, almost too beautiful to eat.
Hope you’re having a wonderful time. Bring on the pics! x

Ooh I’ll look forward to this. Is it surprising to see women in kimonos or did you expect it? I would have thought western dress would have taken over.
bavaria says
You don’t see all that many in Tokyo, but to me it reminds me of Bavaria and tracht, it’s very traditional and you do see it in some places, we expect to see a lot more in Kyoto where we are going in a couple of days! :)
