Kept company by the early morning squawks of the odd lake bird, and the gentle trundling of the little robotic lawnmower trimming the grass of the hotel we were staying in beneath me, I did wonder whether I was perhaps of sane mind sitting out on a freezing balcony whilst the rest of my family slumbered on soundly in their nice warm beds inside…
But if this view wasn’t good enough reason to get up at an ungodly hour last Saturday morning, then I don’t know what is…. Good things come to those that wait as they say.
And as the view went from rolling mists far on one side of the lake, to a brilliant red on the other, this was gradually followed by the first real light switching on the autumn colours of the surrounding trees. Just like another favourite sunrise of mine I knew it had been well worth the early start.
And as I was contemplating going back to bed, a small sleepy girl suddenly appeared next to me rubbing her eyes whilst muttering “wow Mummy, that’s amazing”. “Gorgeous isn’t it?” I replied. “Yes” she answered, ” I wonder how much they cost”. It turns out she appreciates the fine engineering of robotic lawnmowers much more than any such view. Her father’s daughter indeed…
Absolutely worth getting out of bed for!
Definitely! Thanks Sarah! :)
Oh my goodness me…. that is simply so stunning! X
Thanks so much S! xx
Just gorgoeus
Thank you Becky! :)
There are no right words to describe the beauty of these pictures/places….no words..stunning! I just wish one day i could see the view for real
I hope you get to one day Otilia! :) x
I rarely get up early enough to watch the sunrise and then I see others photos and am aways jealous, indeed you did the right thing. Mich x
Thanks so much Mich. Good luck with your trip next week… xx
What amazing pictures – utterly gorgeous, and love, LOVE your daughter – I think that my son might have been with her as well! ;-)
Thanks so much Helen! They sound like they would get on well! :)
Wow what stunning views – where are you? Sort of reminds me of our cruise, I would creep out before everyone else to enjoy the views with a coffee, kids would wake up and would point out other ships and seagulls pooing.
This was in Austria, where I seem to have spent quite a lot of time this year! :D Love your cruise ship story, that’s so typical of kids our age isn’t it?? :D
That is definitely worth getting out of bed early for – it might have even tempted me to leave my warm duvet ;-)
It was a struggle at first, but well worth it in the end! :D Thanks Cass…
Ha, how funny is that! She honed in on the robotic lawnmower rather than the view – prospective scientist rather than another photographer in the family me thinks? x
Perhaps, perhaps! :D xx
There’s nothing better than sitting on a balcony when you’re on holiday – my favourite pastime.
Beautiful shots.
Did you go back to bed?
No. I did try, but two small people definitely decided it was breakfast time! :D Thanks Trish!
Ha, that’s brilliant! The sunrise looks amazing, but for some people you just can’t beat a bit of decent machinery :-)
Thanks Jayne! She definitely takes after her dad, and her Grandad come to think of it! :D
Beautiful photos, and definitely a view worth getting up for! I am intrigued by the robotic lawnmower though!
I can message you with a pic if you like! :D Thank you! :)
Absolutely stunning images as always!! :) xx
Aw thank you! :) xx
Haha that really made me chuckle!
Thank you ML! :) x
Stunning!! Love R’s comment, bless her.xxx
Thank you! She is funny. xxx
I love watching mists actually rolling. I rarely do mornings but a moving mist in a valley is something worth getting up for.
Definitely! Thank you x
You had me until the very end and then I roared with laughter. Such beauty and the robotic lawnmower won out. Love this post xx
Glad you liked it! Made me laugh too, she is funny! :D xx
Very funny comment by the little one. Love it photos when the color begins to shine.
Thanks Brooke! (:
Lawnmowers shmawnmowers, I’m with you in loving the views.
