I love this time of year, so does my mini harvest helper. We are slowly putting our veg garden to bed for winter, but not before gathering in our harvest of courgettes, apples, beetroot, beans, one reasonably sized pumpkin, loads of blackcurrants (swimming in gin right now), raspberries, and garlic.
It wasn’t all a success, we failed miserably with our celeriac, the runner beans turned razor-sharp if we didn’t pick them the very second they were ready, and the fennel bolted and didn’t make it to any kind of salad or soup. The bees loved it though and that made me happy. And now our mini harvest is safely gathered in, its time to plan next year’s garden…

That sounds awesome! Sacramento apparently has another growing season, so I just planted spinach, lettuce, and bok choi… here’s hoping for harvests well into the fall! What are your plans for next year’s garden?
Emma says
Oh good luck! I did plant some kale and kohlrabi, but the snails seem to be enjoying them!!

Hi Mina, lovely to hear from you! My tomatoes grew then all fell over! It’s all learning though I guess for next year! :D Hope you are well. x
