Memories of the gorgeous alpine cows at The Viehschied last year… This festival celebrates the return of the cows from their summer spent wandering the mountains, and it’s so lovely with it’s many traditions, and of course the star attractions themselves – the beautifully bedecked bovines! We will try our hardest to catch up with it again this year….
The “Easter Bunny” found this at the airport last week. It might have bought it under the pretence that it’s for the Small People. It’s not really…
( This week I am joining in with The Gallery, pop over and see the other entries for yourselves…)

Delightful blog. Visiting from the Gallery♫ (Bear With Me)
Thank you so much Laurie! :)
Wow, the cows look so beautiful – the Playmobil ones don’t look too bad either :)
Thank you Sarah, I wonder if they get jealous of the Queen cow who has the biggest headdress! :D
I still haven’t asked my mum where our old cow bells are – I said I would on your post last year. I promise I will ring and ask!
Would love to know if it was from near here! :)
Ha! I LOVE things like this–traditions in other countries that celebrate an ancient, simple yet essential event. And the playmobil toy set is kind of funny (in a nice way) too. I wonder what the cows think of all that fuss. I’ll bet they’re happy cows :)
I bet they think “here we go again, is it that time already!”…. Thanks Michelle! :D
Colourful cows! brilliant. I love their garlands and I think I would be playing with your playmobil too :-)
Thank you… It is a sight to behold (as is the Playmobil!)! :)
Really happy memories! x
PS Clever Playmobile – probably aimed at the tourists!
Yes, those like us who they know would definitely buy it! :D xxx
The cows look beautiful with headdresses! Must be quite a sight!
It is really gorgeous… Just missing Heidi and Peter, or else it would be perfect! :)
A great capture of the celebration. I can only imagine the noise from the bells? Love that the toy is called Playmobil Country!
The noise from the bells is the first thing you hear… Everyone is quiet listening out for them, and then suddenly far away in the distance you hear them making their way down the foothills getting louder and louder as they get closer… So sweet! :) Thanks Brina!
A plastic cow- much less inconvenient that the real thing!
Yes, definitely a lot less clearing up after the plastic variety! Thank you Jacq! :D
Brilliant!! Perhaps Playmobil should do a ‘Silent Sunday’ series based on your back catalogue? Just a thought… ;) Am finally back online after trip away followed by hideous internet failure at home. Have a lot of catching up to do!!
Now that’s an idea… Think of the royalties!! Thank you. So glad you’re OK… Thought all had been a bit quiet on the Asturian Diary front!! :)
*Shakes head*Some city kids could actually grow up believing the country is always like that lol I bet they don’t do a farmer at 4am in sideways cold rain trying to get the cows in for milking set!
Probably not!! They do a rubbish man set though, I saw it the other day… :D
oh I wouldn’t have been able to resist that either! Wonderful with the little alpine head-dress – there’s Playmobil for just about everything isn’t there! Great picture of the real thing too :) x
There certainly is! It’s actually made in Bavaria, I am not sure whether they would market this range outside of Germany! :D x
they are gorgeous cows xx
Thank you Wendy xx
Haha! decorating cows…it could only happen in Europe, they do look very beautiful though :-)
Thank you Lou… It’s a slightly bizarre but beautiful sight! :)
Pretty cows, Sophie found it hilarious that the farmer dressed up the cows
Click through to the other link, there are some even more impressive headresses on that post! :D
They look very cool… and I certainly did not expect the second photo!! LOL! xx
Thank you FW :D x
