How can it possibly be that time again already?
My favourite “Christmas Market” of the lot is back, bigger and better and in full swing at Theresienwiese. Tollwood is not really a traditional Christmas Market (as I’ve said before), it’s definitely more of a Winter Festival – but there are still plenty of Christmas presents to be found here, plus global food, music, theatre and so much more besides…
I will leave you with a few more pictures of the Sunday morning we spent there, although sadly we didn’t enjoy the brilliant blue skies of our visit last Winter!
There’s a joke in the shape of the glitter ball at the top – I wonder how many of my Deutsche speaking friends will get it? I will admit to not noticing it at first, and then having to pretend that I had when Mr R pointed it out!
Back shortly to fill you in on the rest of a very special weekend in our host city (that sounds a bit Eurovision doesn’t it?).
ooooooh I want to go shopping! Looks fantastic.
You would love it, such a nice alternative to commercial shopping! :D x
What an incredible looking event, full of atmosphere even without those blue skies ;)
Thank you! It’s brilliant, even without blue skies! :)
Tell us what the joke is then?
In German, a mirror is a spiegel, and a fried egg is a spiegel ei… Someone very clever thought of the shape of this year’s mirror ball! :)
This looks so awesome. All of it. And so very, very much more interesting than the “normal” markets. Fab photos as usual!
Thank you! You would absolutely love it! You have to come next year! :D
It has gone quickly – I remember your post from last year. This looks like a fab festival – shamed us Brits aren’t as imaginative! X
Thank you S. It’s a great place to spend a day/night or both! :D xx
Oh brings back memories! I went to stay with a friend in Munich as a teenager twice over the New Year and we went to Tollwood. Reading your posts about Munich bring back so many lovely memories, especially at this time of year!
And I love your summer memories of Munich Penny! :D x
Oh if I only had time to visit again it would be to this event for sure. Loved it last year. x
Shame you didn’t get there this time Mum! Next year (if we are still here!!) :D xx
I am incredibly envious of your Christmas Market, ours just has a few stalls on our market place but yours looks so much more.
There are Christmas Markets all over Munich, but this festival is completely different and is definitely my favourite! :) Thank you!
I LOVE the Christmas markets!
Brilliant photos as always x
Thank you Donna! (:
Great photos! Still haven’t been this year (still fighting this bloody cough), but hoping to check it out over the weekend.
Hope you are feeling better! Supposed to snow tomorrow though so make sure you head for one of the warm tents! :D
